So where to begin? This book is like old and stuff. A lot of people really liked the book, so they made it into a movie. It was more of a cartoon movie though. It didn't do that well. Then much time passed and some things that should not have been forgotten, were. Now, since someone had 300 million to throw around, the Rings trilogy has been made. Just like my life philosophy: If you throw enough money at a problem it will be solved.
This movie had Sean Astin in it. I liked the Goonies. I didn't make the connection at first, but the kid scientist from Goonies was also Short Round from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Perhaps the worst of the three Indiana Jones' movies, yet still awesome. Just being in the movie is enough for a lifetime. Now, LOTRTFOTR was a great movie, but how unbelievably cool would it have been if Harrison Ford had played Frodo. It is amazing, despite being my favorite actor, I just can't seem to be able to see him play a hobbit. I know he could though, because he has infinite range. Of course he would play an ultra-cool, confident hobbit. This might change things a tad, but hell its Harrison Ford man. As great as this would be, I haven't picked on Arnold for a while, and he would have made an excellent Frodo as well:
Frodo: Gawndawlf! It is gowd to SEE yew!!!!
Gandalf: Ha ha ha!
(Frodo takes a running leap onto the horse-drawn carriage and hugs Gandalf. Bones are heard breaking)
Gandalf:
Frodo: Gawndawlf!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!
Gandalf: Get...off...you...oaf...
Yes, this was an excellent movie. My cousin told me that even though the movie was three hours long, he could have easily watched a further three hours of movie. I concur. Of course, I have prepared for a movie like that my entire life...my butt resistance is approaching infinity. The common man can not last that long, so making this movie a mere three hours was a very wise thing to do.
I am currently watching the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. The five hundred hour opening ceremony. It is the moose vs. the bear. Fascinating. My butt is not amused by this. I love listening to Costas explaining it, or try explaining it rather.
The story was good, the effects were great, the acting delightful, and once again that lighting...was something to behold. It seemed to hold real close to the book...though I haven't read the book I can say this with complete confidence, because I am all knowing.
The Olympics also had the five Native American tribes of Utah giving blessings to the athletes in their native tongue. I wonder if translated it was "you do not know what I am saying, you stole my land, go to hell." I would be amused.
Anywho, I am already looking forward to the next installment of this trilogy, and unlike some bastards who make you wait three years in between movies, I need to wait but one year before the next one comes out. Good people, happy movie.
